Texas Gulf Coast

For the last three days we've been traveling along the Texas gulf coast. Starting just to the southwest of Corpus Christi, we crossed the intercostal waterway via the JFK Memorial Causeway to Padre Island and the Padre Island National Seashore. After two nights on the National Seashore we then continued up the barrier islands (using several bridges and two ferries) and are now camped on Crystal Beach, just east of Galveston, on the Bolivar Peninsula. Only one BIG issue with our island travels - it's rained all three days!

Tonight's free campsite.

That dang weather can be so weatherly!!!! It will change....
If you want an isolated free place to hang out with migrating birds for a couple days, camp here . . .
29.510248, -94.500265 . .. . was there last year, wonderful place, especially if you try to get far back off the road (sandy, be careful) beyond view from the road. Set out your chairs, watch the birds and sunset. It's a special place.
The rain was better than snow. Great pictures as usual. Even driving on the sandy beach would seem like a challenge. Thanks again for all the pictures and information.
