Dirt Track

I'm heading south in Ohio on US127 and keep seeing signs suggesting an alternate route because of delays due to race day traffic. I not seeing any traffic, so I just keep on truckin' - then, I come upon several thousand RVs parked in farm fields on each side of the road. So, I pull into Speedy Parking & Camping - ask the guy what's happening - it's the 46th World 100 at Eldora Speedway. So tonight I'm camped in a farmer's field and just got back from watching some very exciting late model dirt track racing on a 1/2 mile clay oval - lots of action, noise and dust!

Middle of nowhere on US127 in Ohio
That's dust (not haze) and it got thicker as the night went on

Left Ohio in 1988 when I moved to St.Croix, There are lots of interesting things in Ohio too. But many things have changed in the Cleveland area which I lived near by in the town of Brunswick. So welcome back home and will be looking for the next "TAKE THE LONG WAY"
Steve, I see you have traveled up US127 and US24 through the Amazon forest (wind mills built by Amazon) more than once. If you travel up that way again you need to stop at the Ludwig mill old US24 and RT 65 Grand Rapids, OH restored to early 1900's, call first it's not always open for tours. 20 years ago it was open for self guided tours or was on the day I was there, you need to climb the stairs. Here' the original write up for the restored mill. The pics don't show the upper levels and the canal locks work today. Its still there I just drove past it. http://oldmills.scificincinnati.com/ohio_mills_lu...
