Tater Knob Hike

Took a little hike today up Tater Knob to the fire tower. The tower originally built in 1934 was decommissioned in 1976, and a fire destroyed the wooden cab in 2008. Although closed, its still accessible - if you don't mind a hike with lots of steps (309 by someone's count) - the reward, a great view.

Back at the campground I needed to rest up so I thought I'd try out the new hammock - pretty good! Only reason I have this thing is because Don ("hammock man" aka "island mon") spent so much time in his on last year's trip that I figured I must be missing something.

OUTSTANDING views from the top! (Reminded me that, once upon a lifetime ago, I thought "that" might be where I'd spend my days/nights after *someone* decided they wanted to be a forest ranger.) Honestly, I'd forgotten you were in KY, so had to google Tater Knob.

Loved your little tale about the hammock. I hope you enjoyed yours!
Hammocks are great! Kathie and I use them on our overnight hikes instead of tents; air dwelling is much more comfortable, for us, than ground dwelling.
