Success!

We were on the standby list for the BC Ferry from Prince Rupert to Vancover Island - we got on, good! It was a 22 hour trip, not good - but you do what you need to do!! It was nice and smooth, very good! Now that we've arrived at Port Hardy on the island's northeastern shore, it will take the next several days driving south to reach Victoria, then another ferry to Port Angeles in Washington state. Stay tuned.

This BC Ferry was fancier than the AMHS ferries we've been on
This channel was deeper (1600') than it was wide (1400')

It looks like you had a nice lozenge to relax on your 22 hour trip. It is amazing how the sign at Port Hardy was carved out of the logs. You have captured so many great pictures of different things. Enjoy Vancouver Island. Is it getting colder there?
I'm as excited as Eleanor is about your journeys :) How I wish I was following you two in my ProMaster!!!
Question, is your DeLorMe satellite tracker on your vehicle or on your person? I was a passenger (no vehicle) on a ferry to Victoria about 8 yrs ago, and Vancouver Island (took train north) is relatively flat, was a bit boring without a personal vehicle. So I'm looking forward to your adventures on that island; adventures I unfortunately missed :) Traveling is so much better/rewarding when you have your own vehicle.

It's a handheld unit, the Delorme InReach Explorer. Beside the MapShare thing it's a emergency communicator providing two way texting with the rescue coordination center.
Bon Voyage! The ferry seems to be the way to go at least up to Alaska or back down.

Worked good for us. When I get back home I plan to do a post specifically about the AMHS Ferny system.
Any chance of you coming through MI on your way south? I might be home this time.....then I never Know
