Icefields Parkway

Yesterday we drove the Icefields Parkway starting in Lake Louise and we are now in Jasper, Alberta. The Parkway is just over 125 miles in length and travels through both Banff and Jasper National Park, along the way you pass active glaciers (over 100), lakes, rivers, waterfalls - while surrounded by 10,000 foot plus mountains. We camped next to the Icefield Centre and earlier today returned to the Centre for a tour that took us onto the Athabasca Glacier (part of the Columbia Icefield) - quite an experience! One of the more interesting facts we learned on the tour - water flows from this Icefield to three oceans, the Pacific, Atlantic and Arctic.

These pictures are amazing. The bus looks like it has truck wheels to get through the snow and ice.
It looks like there are a couple of people on the cliff over looking the waterfall. Thank for the pictures and for the information you have added to your blog. Safe travels...
Tremendously enjoy following you two via your blog. I'm another ProMaster who's in Canada, north of Montreal. I'm loving these Canadians and their country, plan to go west as far as Jasper next month. How full was that bus with tourists to the glacier, just curious. Bus was less than half full AND we were they only bus on the glacier, which was an even bigger plus. The day before (a Sunday) we saw at least 6 busses on the glacier, we camped at Wilcox campground (mile away) went back early Monday. YMMV, as we were early in the season. Travel safe.
