Travel Break

After forty days on the road I'm now at home in Bardstown for a couple of months. Still some work to be done on the house we purchased (kitchen remodel) and the holidays are coming up - so the van will be in the driveway for a bit. If this year's weather is anything close to a repeat of last year, I will probably head south in January in search of some warmth - after 15 years in the tropics I'm not a big fan of frigid.

Don't know if you have any favorite places in Florida, but my wife and I love to spend some time in the Winter at St. Joseph's Peninsula State Park, and at Shell Mound close to Cedar Key, Florida. Both of these are on the Gulf Coast. St Joseph's Peninsula is East of Panama City and very close to Port St. Joe. Shell Mound is a County run camp ground just inland from Cedar Key, Florida. Cedar Key is beautiful but not commercialized at all. There are, for example, no chain hotels there. We like that. Enjoy! Love your pictures. Should get delivery on my PM van within the next two months, I hope!!!

Spent time in Cedar Key (two visits) last January. Will return on this next trip as I also like the non commercial, slower pace of the place.

The PM is working for me. Will you be doing a conversion?
Yes, but I want to do the work myself. We want to keep the conversion pretty simple but comfortable. If I get the Van in time, we will take it to Florida this Winter pretty bare bones to see what we would like to have in it for more extensive trips. We're planning a rather extensive Western trip next Spring/Summer so the Florida trip will be a "shakedown" for that as well as teaching us what we want to include in the conversion. Any suggestions are appreciated.
I should be in Florida most of January and February if you'd like to see the van. Also, send me an email via the contact/suggestion form in the sidebar and I'd be more than happy to answer any questions you have on my conversion process.
Glad you/re home....safe and sound. I'll be in Alaska for Jan/Feb!!!
